It was early on the third day after our sweet Abe passed away. We were driving to Houston for our 20th Anniversary trip to St. Lucia, planned ages ago when Abe was still such a big part of our lives. I had loaded the coffee pot the night before since I'm so groggy in the morning and a simple switch gets the stuff going. I opened the shade over the window by the pot and saw a dazzling sight. There was low-lying fog as far as the eye could see and the sun had just risen. It was breathtaking! I grabbed my camera to record the beauty and headed for the front door. The instant I opened the door and walked outside the most amazing feeling entered me. A complete and utter serenity engulfed me and I believe it was Abe's way of telling me that he was okay and at peace. He was in total bliss and he passed that feeling on to me. I couldn't stop smiling, something I hadn't been able to do since Abe had become ill. I knew I could stop worrying - he was happily bounding around heaven and no longer in any pain.
That was around 6:45 a.m. Around 10:30 my daughter, Angela, called me and I barely let her say hello before telling her about my divine experience that morning. After the words rushed out of me there was a long pause and Angela said, “Are you sitting down?”
I replied with, “Are you pregnant?”
“Yes! I wanted to tell you before your trip because I knew it would make you happy!” She knew how many tears I’d been crying lately. Then she said something I’ll never forget.
“You felt that feeling at the exact moment I found out I was pregnant, Momma!” I just stood there in silence for a moment and finally I said, “What?”
“That’s when I got the results of my home pregnancy test, right when Abe was letting you know he’s okay!” She jubilantly exclaimed.
“Oh my goodness, do you think your baby will be Abe reincarnated?” I strongly believe in reincarnation and I also believe that Abe was a very special guy and would surely be a human in his next life.
All I can say is this … if Abe is my future grand baby I couldn’t ask for a smarter or sweeter disposition than he had. And if he or she howls like a wolf in the middle of the night, it will confirm what I already suspect – Abe is reborn!
Wow, Roxie! How magical is that - I am so glad you had this experience, and even more glad that you're writing again. Terrific! Love...
